Following a string of releases on Saffron Records - as well as collaborating extensively with Snazzback on their debut album - China Bowls is back with another infectious neo-soul inspired gem. ‘Before I Knew You’ has been floating around online as ‘untitled’ and it’s official release sees Bowls strip back to simply her own lush layered vocals and effortlessly sophisticated guitar sound. In the track, Bowls laments upon a past relationship and the ever-present temptation to return to past situations; a struggle between head and heart, though ultimately knowing that “I was alright before I met you, so I’ll be alright without you”.

Bowls represents one of the most exciting artists emerging from the current UK jazz-soul contingent, playing shows from Glastonbury to Boomtown to Green Man Festival. Having spent four months in Australia at the top of 2019, writing, recording and playing shows (and appearing on Triple J), Bowls has since been touring constantly and is about to head out on an intimate solo tour, playing Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff and Norwich.
